Sat. August 2, 2008:

Well, we have been to Gatlinburg TN for two nights and most of three days, shopped and walked, fished, and hiked a little. Been over a mountain and back from Gatlinburg TN to Cherokee NC and back to Gatlinburg. We have ridden go karts and been through museums of fact, fiction, dinosaurs and aquariums, but now, we are headed home. It has been a great trip, one that I know that I will remember for a long time, and I hope so will Cogan. It has been a trip filled with really good times for both of us. We have seen a LOT of different things, from seashore to mountain top, from wilderness to big city life. From one extreme to another, two full weeks of fun and bonding between the two of us, two full weeks of memories to last a lifetime.

Thursday July 31, 2008:

We have been in Pigeon Forge Tenn. for a couple days this week. We have ridden go karts, gone through aquariums, and museums.............and shopped! Have we shopped! Been in a lot of stores in Gatlinburg and in Pigeon Forge, we even drove over the mountain and shopped in Cherokee Village North Carolina. On our way back from Cherokee Village we saw a sign that warned of Elk crossing the highway. We got around the next curve and saw a bunch of cars pulled off of the road..........they were all out looking at a grazing Elk along the road, so we stopped and got out and took pictures of our own. Went back to Gatlinburg and shopped some more, and went through the Ripleys Believe It Or Not museum. We also bought a couple mini helicopters that are remote controlled, and took them back to the room and charged them up, so we could fly them........they worked pretty good. We bought them at the Discovery Store, and when the guys put them in Big Lots bags, I said something about it, and he said that they are affiliated with Big Lots and have been for ten years. Cogan told me that there is a lot of Big Lots advertising on the Discovery Channel.

It was a very good day........rained, hard at times, but that didn't stop us, we just kept on going, in fact it cooled things down a little, of course it is a big zoo..........it is the NATIONAL ZOO! We saw giant pandas and all sorts of great animals. We are staying nearby tonight and going on some excursions tomorrow.

After watching the Patriots practice we just chilled back at our room and rested up for the next day.

All rested up and ready for the city, after getting a GPS device to get us there! We drove into NYC and straight to Yankee Stadium, went to the pro shop and picked up a couple things and walked around the stadium, and then we were off to Brooklyn Bridge. After driving over the Brooklyn Bridge we went back over the river on the Verazanno Narrows bridge and out of the city and headed for Washington DC.

Going East 08

Cogan and I travelled across Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and into the New England area to arrive at York Harbor Maine. He fished in York Harbor, before we travelled south to Hampton New Hampshire, staying there overnight along the beach. From there we went on down to Boston, where we spent an evening with family going to Harvard Square for an entertaining dinner.
The next day we spent at Gillette stadium watching the New England Patriots in the first day of training.
